Disclaimer

In short: this site arranges the measure and quote, a licensed builder does the work, and you should verify their details.

Licence and insurance details are provided on your discovery call, or whenever you ask. Request them →

Referral website

Hornsby Bathrooms is an enquiry and referral service. It does not itself perform building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling or asbestos removal work. Enquiries made through this website are passed to the licensed builder we work in partnership with.

The builder

Renovation work is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request.

We encourage you to verify the licence yourself on the NSW Fair Trading public register before any work begins. The register shows the licence holder, class, status, expiry and any disciplinary action. Ask for the certificate of currency for insurance as well.

The builder issues the quote, enters into the contract with you, carries out the work and is responsible for it. Any warranty on workmanship is provided by the builder. Home building compensation cover, where the law requires it, is arranged by the builder.

What this site does not represent

We do not represent that any other contractor holds a particular licence, class, insurance policy or accreditation, and we do not monitor insurance on an ongoing basis. Check the documents yourself before work starts.

Asbestos

Many Hornsby Shire homes were built when asbestos cement sheeting was common. Asbestos removal is not carried out by this website, and a builder's licence does not authorise asbestos removal. Removal of asbestos is carried out by a licensed asbestos removalist in accordance with NSW requirements.

If anyone proposes to strip out a pre-1990 bathroom without testing suspect materials first, stop and get further advice.

Approvals and site conditions

Where a job may need owners corporation approval, council consent or a complying development certificate — including for heritage items or changes to windows on bushfire-prone land — the builder can advise on what is commonly required. The decision rests with the owners corporation, Hornsby Shire Council or a certifier. No one on this site can guarantee an approval or its timing.

Conditions hidden behind walls and floors, such as rot, termite damage or failed pipework, cannot be confirmed until the room is opened. Quotes address this through stated allowances and a variation method.
